IMI PBM Sanitary Clean Steam Trap Valves
The IMI PBM Igenix® Clean Steam Trap Valves, part of the CT Cast Series 9 and Forged Series 8, provide a superior solution for managing steam in highly demanding sanitary applications. These valves are meticulously designed and constructed from premium materials, ensuring optimal performance in biopharmaceuticals, food, and beverages. Each valve incorporates a dual chamber seat design with a 1/2” Tri-Clamp® steam drain purge port strategically positioned within the valve body to drain the body cavity directly to the trap, thereby maintaining cleanliness and efficiency. Additionally, the unique Adjust-O-Seal® feature allows in-line adjustment of the valve to compensate for everyday wear on the valve seats, significantly extending the life and performance of the valves.
Regarding material quality, the valves are made from low ferrite cast and forged 316L stainless steel, adhering to stringent material standards. For more specialized requirements, materials such as Hastelloy™ and AL6XN™ are also available. Various end connections, including extended tube, extended buttweld, and hygienic clamp, are offered, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of system requirements. The valves also meet high sanitation standards as all materials used are USP Class VI and FDA compliant, and the valves themselves are designed to be ASME BPE compliant. Importantly, no animal-derived ingredients are used in the surface finishes, achieved through mechanical polishing with optional electropolish treatments available.
These valves can operate under a maximum working pressure of up to 900 psig CWP and withstand temperatures up to 450˚F, depending on the seat and seal material selected. This versatility allows them to perform exceptionally across various operating conditions, making them an essential component for any critical steam management system in sanitary environments.
- Sizes Available: 1/2” - 2”
- Series: Cast Series 9 and Forged Series 8
- Seating and Seals: Standard white V-TEF™, with other options like FKM O-ring energizers available to cater to specific requirements.
- Stem Packing Material: V-TEF™ and S-TEF® ensuring reliable sealing and operational integrity.
- Surface Finish: Internal polish standard of 20 Ra ID in Series 8 and 30 Ra ID in Series 9, with options for lower roughness to meet stringent sanitary needs.
These valves facilitate a straightforward operation with three distinct positions:
- Service Position: Allows for steam trap maintenance by isolating the steam trap for safe intervention.
- Open Position: Enables full sterilization by allowing steam flow, which can be quickly isolated for sampling or operational adjustments.
- Trap Isolated Position: Optimizes condensate drainage, maintaining the body cavity's temperature and ensuring sanitary conditions.
The design of our Clean Steam Trap Valves reduces dead leg piping, minimizing areas where condensate can cool and potentially cause contamination. This integration of multiple functions into a single valve design not only simplifies the system but also reduces costs by eliminating unnecessary welds and fittings. The valves can be mounted in both vertical and horizontal positions to accommodate different system layouts.
